Hundreds register interest in new homes coming soon to Ilfracombe

An eagerly anticipated housing development in North Devon is set to launch in 2023, Elan Homes has announced.

Hundreds of people have registered their interest in Seascape in Ilfracombe a 51-home development, within walking distance of Ilfracombe town centre.

Around a mile from the beach, the properties will be much sought-after.

Elan regional sales director Tracey Ball said: “Plans to build new homes on land off The Shields have been mooted for decades. Another developer had started to create the roads and build some of the homes before work came to a stand still and Elan acquired the site. We’re excited to be boosting the local housing market by building new homes. Since we announced the acquisition of the land we’ve been building a database of potential purchasers – around 500 people have registered interest in just 51 homes. We’re working towards releasing the first phase of new homes at Seascape for sale in the first quarter of 2023. We’ll be keeping those who’ve already enquired updated about our launch plans and would encourage anyone thinking of buying a new home in Ilfracombe to get in touch.”

Seascape will feature 51 two, three and four-bedroom homes including bungalows and stunning three-storey properties with balconies. 

Four properties – including one that will become the fully-furnished show home – have already been built, with construction now having been taken over by Elan and the company’s subcontractors.

The development will include 11 affordable homes, helping to address local housing need.

As part of the venture, Elan Homes plans to invest more than £300,000 in the area, with almost £170,000 being targeted towards education provision and £135,107 towards recreation.

Ilfracombe has several beaches, its own harbour, and cliffs offering plenty of coastal walks, while the town centre has a wealth of amenities with independent shops and supermarkets, galleries, bars and restaurants.
