New Homes in Lower Darwen Coming Soon

NEW Elan homes in Lower Darwen will soon be available to reserve “off plan” as the homebuilder’s expansion continues. Tower Gardens, which is taking shape across an 8.64 acre site off Milking Lane and Millbank Road, will offer 76 new homes.

It’s the fourth Lancashire development for Cheshire-based Elan Homes. The company is nearing a sell out at Wrea Green Meadows, Wrea Green; has seen a flurry of sales in recent weeks at Redwood Gardens, Marton Moss, on the Fylde peninsular and launched new homes at Whittingham Fold in Goosnargh, near Preston, at the start of the year.

The land in Lower Darwen was acquired from Barnfield Blackburn Ltd, a joint venture between the Blackburn with Darwen Council and Brierfield-based Barnfield Construction.

Marie Morris, sales director for Elan Homes in the North, said: “We’ve been receiving enquiries from potential purchasers interested in buying a new home in Lower Darwen right from when we were announced as the preferred developer back in June 2021. Since then, we’ve received planning approval and begun preparing the land for new homes. With work progressing well we’re preparing to release the first properties for sale off plan.

“Tower Gardens will address a local need for family-sized homes. We’d encourage anyone looking for a three or four-bedroom home in Lower Darwen to register their interest. We’ll be updating those who’ve signed up about our launch plans and offering them an exclusive insight into the homes when they’re released for sale”

Prices for the three and four-bedroom homes, which will be available in semi-detached and detached designs, will be announced at the launch. Show homes are expected to open in the autumn.

Elan will make a financial contribution towards off site affordable housing provision in the wider community.

Tower Gardens will include more than five acres of public open space. It will also lead to enhanced flood alleviation measures for the wider area including a surface water lagoon on site and four weirs along Davyfield Brook to slow the flow of water.

There will also be improvements to a public right of way which cuts through the north of the site, including a footbridge over Davyfield Brook.

The homes will be accessed via the new spine road linking Milking Lane with Greenbank Terrace, and the M65 junction, which has been constructed by Barnfield Construction on behalf of the partnership.

Lower Darwen Primary School neighbours the site, making it ideal for families. Elan representatives visited the school to support geography lessons and help children learn about the new homes.
