Local housebuilder Allison Homes South West has installed a legacy bench at its Orchard development in Langport. The bench will offer a space for relaxation, socialising and appreciation of the scenery which the development has to offer.

Spending time in nature has been proven to have positive effects on mental health problems such as anxiety and depression. Leading mental health charity Mind found that ecotherapy, a type of formal treatment which involves doing activities outside in nature can help with mild to moderate depression.

Allison Homes South West hopes the Langport community will see the benefits of the space and use it to take some time out of their day and enjoy a quiet moment of reflection.

Head of sales and marketing at Allison Homes, Michele Jones commented: “Whilst this is a simple gesture, we hope this bench will be enjoyed by the local community and Allison homeowners for generations to come.

“We recognise the importance of fostering a sense of community and whether it’s a quiet moment to read a book or a gathering spot for neighbours the bench will become a cherished feature for all residents in the area.”

The installation of the bench at The Orchard marks the beginning of plans for a further series of benches to be installed following the completion of each at of the homebuilder’s developments in the region. The bench will remain in the development’s public open space for residents and the community to enjoy.
