Recent research has found that typical costs associated with moving are steadily increasing, with first time buyers paying thousands of pounds ahead of their purchase, in the lead up to their move*.

This summer, L&Q is helping first-time buyers to step onto the property ladder by offering some support towards the cost of buying. One of the UK’s largest housing associations, the organisation is running a month-long offer at selected Shared Ownership developments across London, Reading and Cambridgeshire. From 1st to 30th June, customers who reserve at one of L&Q’s eligible developments can receive up to £5,000 in moving costs – making their move that bit easier**.

L&Q offers a large number of Shared Ownership developments, with deposits starting from just £3,281. From Addiscombe Oaks in Croydon, to L&Q at Clarendon in Haringey, to L&Q at Bankside Gardens in Reading, the incentive is available across a range of properties, including riverside apartments in commuter towns, and contemporary homes in the capital.

Claire Brenlund, Sales and Marketing Director at L&Q, comments: “At L&Q, we’re passionate about ensuring our customers can take their first steps onto the property ladder. Through delivering Shared Ownership homes, to offering 5% deposits, and including integrated appliances as standard, we’re continuously striving to make moving as straightforward as possible for new homeowners. That’s why we’ve launched our latest offer this June, to provide additional support to our buyers in the form of up to £5,000 towards moving costs.

“We understand that many of our buyers work toward purchasing their first home once they have saved a deposit, but many of our customers aren’t aware of the additional costs associated with moving. We want to make sure that buyers are able to take advantage of this incentive this June, to have a stress-free, more affordable moving experience.”

Developments involved in the incentive include Addiscombe Oaks in East Croydon, a collection of studio, one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments for sale with Shared Ownership.

At Addiscombe Oaks, from 1st to 30th June, buyers can receive contributions towards their moving costs, including:

  • Up to £4,000 towards moving costs when reserving a three-bedroom home.
  • Up to £3,500 towards moving costs when reserving a two-bedroom apartment.

Whilst living in contemporary new apartments, residents will have exclusive access to a communal private courtyard, and the development will deliver attractive new public realm improvements including landscaped planting and street furniture. East Croydon Station is just a three-minute walk away, where trains to both London Bridge and London Victoria arrive in less than 20 minutes, whilst BOXPARK Croydon is only a four-minute walk from the development.

North of the capital at another development included in this incentive, is L&Q at Clarendon in Haringey.

At L&Q at Clarendon, from 1st to 30th June, buyers can receive contributions towards their moving costs, including:

  • Up to £5,000 towards moving costs when reserving a two-bedroom apartment.
  • Up to £3,000 towards moving costs when reserving a one-bedroom apartment.

Clarendon offers a collection of apartments that form part of the wider development area, a growing new residential neighbourhood forming part of the Haringey Heartlands regeneration scheme in Wood Green. A new 12-acre city village in Zone 3 set to welcome over 1,700 new homes – of which 285 units will be Shared Ownership – and resident facilities, the development is an exciting new destination for residents. The brand-new homes feature spacious open-plan living areas, plenty of natural light, and private outside space. Each home boasts a private balcony or garden, and residents can also enjoy access to landscaped communal green spaces including a new pocket square, public garden, wild planted podium space and residents’ roof terrace.

Also included in this incentive, is L&Q at Bankside Gardens in Reading.

  • At L&Q at Bankside Gardens, from 1st to 30th June, buyers can receive contributions towards their moving costs, including:
  • Up to £1,000 towards moving costs on available one-bedroom apartments.

Providing a modern specification and a cool, contemporary design, each apartment comes ‘ready to move in’, with flooring in all rooms, contemporary fitted kitchens featuring a range of integrated appliances, as well as communal heating, making them the ideal first home. Plus, residents all benefit from secure cycle storage, parking and private outdoor space to every home. Tucked away amongst a cluster of lakes and 22 acres of vast open parkland, buyers can expect plenty of green space in the immediate area. Just a three-minute walk from L&Q’s homes at Bankside Gardens, The Residents’ Club 51 is home to a gym – with a wide array of equipment and a studio – a luxurious cinema room with comfy seating, plus a beautifully furnished co-working space. Reading Green Park Station is just a three-minute walk from Bankside Gardens, where journeys into central Reading take just six minutes, and from Reading Station, London can be reached in just 24 minutes via the Great Western Railway service to Paddington, which runs frequently.

Other eligible sites taking part in this incentive include L&Q at Brunel Street Works, L&Q at Beam Park, L&Q at Regency Heights, L&Q at Ridgeway Views, L&Q at Brent Terrace, The Chain, L&Q at Kidbrooke Village, L&Q at Huntley Wharf, L&Q at Darwin Green, L&Q at Marleigh, Barking Riverside, and L&Q at The Silk District.
