THE first residents have begun moving into new homes in Glastonbury.

Elan Homes has welcomed homeowners to its Avalon development on Old Wells Road, where properties are selling well ahead of the build programme.

Demand is such that many of the 42 private-sale homes have either already been sold or have “early bird” reservations against them, giving eager buyers first refusal when those properties become available.

Elan regional sales manager Tracey Ball said: “We were really excited to be able to welcome the first residents to Avalon. Seeing people happily settling into their new homes is why we do what we do. The development has attracted a mix of buyers from those starting out and buying their first home, to families in need of extra space and more mature purchasers who are downsizing. One thing they have in common is that they recognise and value the ease of living owning a brand new home offers.

“New build homes really come into their own at this time of year thanks to a host of energy saving measures including highly efficient central heating systems. Instead of cranking up the thermostat trying to keep warm in an older property, our homeowners can sit back and relax in the style and comfort of their new home. As a result of the energy efficient features we include in our homes, buyers should find their household bills are lower while also limiting their impact on the environment.”

Among the homes currently available at Avalon is the four-bedroom detached Woodhall, priced at £400,000.

A generously proportioned double fronted home, the Woodhall offers 1,350 sq ft of living space including open plan kitchen and family room with adjoining utility, a formal dining room, spacious lounge and a cloakroom to the ground floor.

Upstairs, the main bedroom benefits an en-suite, leaving the family bathroom to serve the remaining three bedrooms.

Homes at Avalon are ideally placed to enable buyers to choose their pace of life, perhaps exploring the wide-open spaces of the Somerset Levels or Glastonbury Tor.

The town itself is home to a good choice of schools and a mix of high-street and independent retailers, plus regular market.

The cathedral city of Wells is only six miles away, while Bristol, Bath and Taunton, are easily accessible by car or if you want to let the train take the strain, Castle Cary station is within easy reach.
