CASTLE GREEN BREAKS GROUND AT OMEGA SITE
BUILDING of 140 new homes has commenced at a site in Warrington, signalling the start of Castle Green Homes’ major push into Cheshire.
The homebuilder’s new Willow Fields development is part of the Omega site, in Warrington, the largest mixed-use development in the North West
Castle Green’s 12.1 acre site will deliver two, three and four-bedroom homes, including 19 properties that will be offered at discount to market rate.
Already active on 10 sites across North Wales and Wirral, this is the Welsh-based homebuilder’s first North West acquisition since the management buyout of Macbryde Homes late last year; and is an integral part of Castle Green’s ambitious expansion plans to quadruple output over the next five years.
Castle Green chief executive Gwyn Jones said: “It’s a major milestone to finally break ground at this landmark site. Whilst it’s not our first scheme in Cheshire – we’ve previously built in Ellesmere Port, Beeston and Neston as Macbryde – the acquisition of a sizeable parcel of land at Omega, Warrington, signals the start of our major expansion in the North West of England. We’ve already had huge interest from potential buyers at Willow Fields and we’re looking forward to playing our part in the regeneration of this part of the old Burtonwood Airbase.”
Headquartered in St Asaph, Castle Green has already announced plans to open a second office at Preston Brook, near Warrington, later this year, which will facilitate its North West expansion.
The land acquired from Omega Warrington Limited and Homes England forms part of the largescale regeneration of land that was once part of RAF Burtonwood. A £1billion, 575acre scheme at junction 8 of the M62, Omega is the largest mixed-use development site in the North West and includes businesses, homes, a new primary school and plans for shopping and leisure facilities, a care home, hotel and a 35-acre park.
The Willow Fields development will include public open space and a children’s play area.
The first homes will be released for sale in July and the development is expected to take two and a half years to complete.
